SUNY Oneonta sophomore Jonathan Kowalski (Glens Falls) was recently named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference Men's Soccer First Team, as well as the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team.

Kowalski had three goals (all game-winners) and three assists this season.

The Red Dragons lost to SUNY Plattsburgh, 1-0, in the league tournament semifinals.

men's basketball

Brigham Young University junior Jimmer Fredette (Glens falls), knocked down a game-high 25 points while pulling down four rebounds and dishing out four assists, as the Cougars defeated Bradley, 70-60, on Nov. 13.

Sage College junior Garret Bishop (Saratoga Springs) and freshman Alex King (Saratoga Springs) were both in the lineup during an 82-62 loss to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Nov. 15.

Bishop knocked down eight points, while King recorded 13 points and four rebounds.

King earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week for his effort.

Jeff Grenier (Whitehall), a sophomore attending SUNY Canton, had nine points and four rebounds during a 72-56 loss to Houghton College on Nov. 14.

Southern Vermont College sophomore Cameron Herrington (Cambridge) contributed 10 points, as the Mountaineers won their season opener, 87-76, over Stevenson University on Nov. 15.

men's swimming & diving

Myles Poster (Queensbury), a junior attending the University of Maryland, finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke during a 171-98 loss to the University of North Carolina on Nov. 6. His time was 1:59.71.

On Nov. 14, Poster placed seventh in the 100 backstroke (55.07) and ninth in the 200 backstroke (2:00.97) while competing in a tri-meet against Towson University and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Joe Moeller (Hadley-Luzerne), a senior attending Norwich University, finished first in both the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly, as the Cadets defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 178-57, on Nov. 14. His times were 25.92, and 56.34, respectively.

wrestling

Jimmy Neal (Glens Falls), a sophomore attending SUNY Oneonta, registered a 6-2 decision in the 165-pound weight class, as the Red Dragons defeated Rochester Institute of Technology, 34-7, on Nov. 11.

Teammate Ed Galvin (Corinth), a junior, picked up a major decision, 9-0, in the victory over RIT.

SUNY Cortland freshman Jared Myhrberg (Queensbury) recorded a 4-1 record to finish second in the 184-pound weight class, as the Red Dragons finished second in the recent Ithaca Invitational.

field hockey

Kathryn Dawsey (Saratoga Springs), a senior goalkeeper attending Clark University (Mass.), was recently named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Second Team.

Through 16 games, Dawsey recorded a 9-7 record, including three shutouts, while posting a 1.83 goals against average. She made 131 saves and gave up just 29 goals.

Hamilton College junior Colleen Callaghan (Queensbury) scored the lone goal, her 12th of the season, as the Continentals lost to the College of Wooster (Ohio), 2-1, in a first-round NCAA Division III Tournament matchup.

Skidmore College senior forward Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs) scored her 22nd goal of the season during a 4-3 win over Amherst College in the second round of the Division III Tournament on Nov. 14.

On Nov. 15, the Thoroughbreds were eliminated after a 4-1 loss to Tufts University.

For her contributions during the 2009 season, Britt was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region First Team, as well as a NFHCA Senior All-Star.

St. Lawrence University senior Joss-Elyse Smith (North Warren) and sophomore Emily Riley (Saratoga Springs) were recently honored by the NFHCA Division III Regional All-America Team.

Smith, who was named to the NFHCA First Team, accumulated 15 goals and five assists on the season, while Riley, a Second Team selection, contributed four goals and four assists.

women's basketball

Carlin DeMarinis (Saratoga Springs), a senior guard attending Sage College, had six points, two rebounds and one blocked shot in a recent 67-60 loss to Hartwick College.

women's hockey

Stephanie Moberg (Saratoga Springs), a senior attending SUNY Plattsburgh, contributed two goals and one assist during recent back-to-back, 4-1 victories over Chatham University.

women's soccer

Sage College junior midfielder Ashley Allain (Stillwater) has been named to the Skyline Conference Women's Soccer First Team.

Allain recorded four goals and 10 assists in 16 contests.

Freshman Jen Stafford (Lake George), who is attending Washington College (Md.), led the Shorewomen in scoring this season with four goals (including two game-winners) and two assists (10 points).

women's swimming

Vassar College freshman Shannon Sara (Queensbury) swam in three events during a 186-14 loss to RPI on Nov. 14.

Sara won the 200 freestyle (2:00.39), placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:14.14) and second in the 500 freestyle (5:27.56).

Nazareth College senior Heather Tomaski (Glens Falls) and sophomore Ashley Palmer (Queensbury) both competed during a recent 174-126 victory over LeMoyne College.

Tomaski finished sixth in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:32.05, while Palmer placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:40.23) and fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.41.).
