The Philadelphia Flyers confirmed Tuesday evening that they've terminated the contract of Adirondack Phantoms forward Lukas Kaspar.
According to the Phantoms, Kaspar left the team on Saturday to pursue an opportunity with a professional team in Europe. Kaspar, a left winger, last played with the Phantoms on Friday in Toronto.
Reports in the Finnish media say Kaspar is headed to play in Finland.
The Flyers declined further comment, other than to say Kaspar is no longer with the organization.
The Flyers signed Kaspar to a one-year contract this summer and he attended training camp with the team. He was assigned to Adirondack before the season began. In eight games with the Phantoms, Kaspar had one goal and two assists.
The 22nd overall pick in the 2004 NHL draft, Kaspar played 65 games with Worcester last season, scoring 17 goals. He also played 13 games with the San Jose Sharks of the NHL.
