BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Philadelphia Flyers' backup goaltender Brian Boucher helped out the Adirondack Phantoms with 29 saves for an American Hockey League win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-2, at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Sunday.
The Flyers sent Boucher to meet the Phantoms in Connecticut for a conditioning game. He notched his 60th Phantoms victory, and Adirondack teammates Jared Ross earned his 200th career AHL point and Jason Ward made his 100th career AHL goal.
The Sound Tigers snagged the lead five minutes into the game after Phantoms forward Krys Kolanos received a tripping penalty. Midway through the period, Adirondack answered with another power play goal from Jon Matsumoto, his first of the year, off a rebound from Oskars Bartulis and David Laliberte.
Two minutes later, Ross scored the go-ahead goal off a Kolanos pass for his first this season.
In the second period, the Phantoms kept up the momentum with a goal from Ward, who collected a feed from Ross, giving both players career highs in scoring and points, respectively.
As the Phantoms attempted to slow the game's pace and solidify the win in the third, Bridgeport's Greg Moore broke through with a goal at 13:20. Adirondack prevented them from sinking another, and Kolanos put in one of their own on an empty net with 20 seconds remaining to give the Phantoms their first road win of the season.
