LAKE GEORGE -- The town planning board will conduct a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Town Hall where residents can speak out about a project that proposes dredging Orcutt Bay.
Richard Yulman, who occupies a home on the bay, has proposed removing 8 to 12 inches of sediment, algae and muck from the bottom of Lake George to improve swimming conditions in the waters behind the property.
But residents at nearby Cannon Point Condominiums have said they have never seen anyone swim at the property and have expressed concerns regarding the health effects of stirring up decades-old sediment and the possibility of bacteria and lead flowing down the bay to their beach.
The project has been cleared by the Adirondack Park Agency and the state Department of Environmental Protection.
