THURMAN -- A Warrensburg man faces misdemeanor charges after he was pulled over for traffic violations Monday afternoon and found to be driving drunk with a loaded rifle in his vehicle, according to police records.
Yves F. Fontaine, 72, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, according to the State Police public information website.
Fontaine was charged after he was pulled over at 2:28 p.m. while he drove on South Johnsburg Road, the website showed.
It is illegal to transport a loaded gun in a vehicle.
Rifle season for deer hunters opened Oct. 24.
Fontaine was released pending prosecution in Thurman Town Court.
