ST. LOUIS -- Sorry girls, but this home party is not for you. You won't find Pampered Chef or Tupperware here. Or any fancy candles or jewelry, for that matter.
It's a Man Cave MEATing, and it's just for the guys.
Man Cave offers grilling tools and accessories, premium meats, wood chips and planks, grilling spices, rubs, marinades and even apparel. Plus, men will find stuff for every man's personal cave, including poker products and home bar accessories.
Nick Beste, 22, of Minnesota, and Kevin Carlow, 24, of Wisconsin, started Man Cave last year.
One recent Sunday evening, Jim Mossey, 66, of Town and Country, Mo., hosted a party, his grill smokin', chips and nuts ready for snacking, brats stacked in boxes and grilling products lined on outdoor tables.
The MEATing began with beer tops popping and men talking up their favorite grilling rubs and recipes. Then, Jim began grilling brats, in four different flavors. As the brats sizzled on the grill, the guys sampled beef snack sticks in a variety of flavors, including teriyaki, jalapeno and cheese and honey BBQ.
Once the brats were cooked, Jim carried the platter of meat to an outdoor serving table. The men followed. Jim had the table set with plates, napkins, hotdog buns, utensils and condiments. But, forget all that stuff. All that these men required was a napkin to snag up the brats, bun free.
As the party came to an end, the half-dozen or so men filled out their order forms with orders totaling a couple hundred bucks. They headed indoors to watch a baseball game.
Girls, don't be too disappointed if you missed this party. If your man attends a Man Cave MEATing, check out the Web site (mancaveworldwide.com) beforehand. There are a few beauty items just for girls. "Call it old school charm," says creator Kevin. "We thought it would be nice for a gentleman to bring something home for his wife."
