DELMAR -- Lindsay M. Boutelle, 88, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
Mr. Boutelle was born on June 9, 1921, the son of the late Edward W. and Marietta H. Boutelle.
He was a World War II veteran, a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a B-25 pilot.
He attended Duke University majoring in civil engineering and returned to Delmar to work in the family business, Edward W. Boutelle & Sons Land Surveyors. He was a lifelong resident of Delmar whose life's work was a big part in the growth of suburban Delmar after the war. He was a past president of the Bethlehem Central School Board, a member and past president of the NYS Land Surveyors Association, a member of the Bethlehem Lions Club, Delmar a member and past Master of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge No. 85, Delmar and a member of the Delmar Reformed Church. Mr. Boutelle was proud of his work in helping to establish Camp Fowler Memorial Camp, a summer camp for the Reformed Church of America, Albany synod, in Speculator, N.Y.
Mr. Boutelle is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn Boutelle and her children, Jon Koch, his wife, Theresa and granddaughter, Vanessa of Thomasville, N.C., and Kim McCrum of Hendersonville, N.C.; Mr. Boutelle is also survived by two sons from a previous marriage, Richard L. Boutelle of Queensbury and David M. Boutelle and his life partner, Suzi Byng, of Bellevue, Idaho. Also, two grandsons, Brandon E. Boutelle and his wife, Jennifer and a great-granddaughter, Clara Rose, all of Lake Placid, and Tyler G. Boutelle and his wife, Crystal of Truckee,
Calif.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the Delmar Reformed Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Boutelle's memory may be made to Camp Fowler c/o Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave., Delmar, NY 12054.
