A new guide to local living

local livingThere’s a new Local Living Guide circulating around town.

If you’re not familiar, the guide is like one of those fundraiser coupon books that students sometimes have to sell except it includes nothing but locally owned businesses.

I bought the 2009 guide for $10 over the summer, and there’s a lot in there that I haven’t and won’t use before it expires in December. But I’ve more than made up the initial costs, using coupons at the Kayak Shack on Saratoga Lake, the Olde Bryan Inn and Beverly’s, among others.

The 2010 version has been available at the Saratoga Springs Farmer’s Market for the last few weeks, and copies also went out to Four Seasons, Virgil’s, Higher Ground’s (the library coffee shop) and Compliments to the Chef today, according to the Guide’s Facebook page.

This year’s book is $15, and the savings inside are estimated at a value of more than $3,500.
