Little not interested in 2010 congressional bid

It looks like those 57 Hogan relatives won’t have to choose which side of the table to sit on at upcoming Sunday evening extended family dinners.

State Sen. Elizabeth Little, R-Queensbury, said Friday she will not run for Congress in 2010 if Democrat Scott Murphy is the winner in the 20th Congressional District special election.

As of Thursday, Murphy was 401 votes ahead in the count from the March 31 special election, and it is widely expected he will win over Republican James Tedisco.

“No I won’t. I’m going to be running for the (state) Senate in 2010,” Little said in an interview with The Post-Star and WNYT Channel 13, The Post-Star news partner.

Little’s daughter is related to Murphy by marriage through the 57-member Hogan family that Murphy featured in his campaign commercials.

Little was one of five candidates that sought the Republican nomination for the March 31 special election, and there had been speculation in recent days she may run in 2010.

She said Friday she would not challenge Murphy, whose venture capital firm has its local office in the same office building on Warren Street in Glens Falls as Little’s Senate district office.

“Scott wouldn’t have been the candidate if I had run, so I won’t be running against him,” Little said.
