It’s pronounced chi-poat-lay

Chipotle — say chi-poat-lay — is opening their new Wilton location to the public on April 24, the company said today in a news release.

I can’t wait. Their chicken burritos were a staple of my college years, and I’ve missed them ever since abandoning the Midwest. The food is always fresh, the guacamole is great and I appreciate any dinner that spares me from breaking anything over a ten-dollar bill. On top of all that, the owners are actually pretty decent.

The burrito haven also announced two events in anticipation of their debut: a fundraiser for the Wilton Youth Soccer Club on April 22 and a free — yes, free — burrito day on April 23.

A $5 donation to the club will get you a burrito or an order of tacos and a drink. All proceeds are going straight to the club, the company said. The burrito giveaway is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the 23rd.  Get their early — we’ve seen what happens when restaurants go giving away complimentary sustenance.

Once the store’s doors are open, burritos can be had every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you really can’t wait until the big day, here’s a map of “nearby” stores (before you tease yourself, there ain’t nothing around these parts until you hit Massachusetts).

By the way, anyone tried Five Guys yet? A co-worker stopped in yesterday and said he’d just ate there and that it made him want to throw up — but in a good way. Figure that one out.
