Tedisco campaign update

Republican and Conservative congressional candidate James Tedisco was still campaigning at noon today, after an all-night swing through the central part of the 20th Congressional District.

Tedisco said at a stop at the Subway sandwich shop in South Glens Falls that he might have to take a few minutes for a nap.

“I’m going to sleep in a Target parking lot or something. I’m getting tired,” he said.

Tedisco, the state Assembly minority leader, said he planned to continue campaigning most of the day, but would take a break to go back to Albany to deal with the state budget.

“I’m going to go back there with the (Republican) Conference and meet with them. We’ll be organizing them for the debates on the floor and stand up for the constituents like we have in the past,” he said.

Tedisco said he is confident local voters aren’t so disenchanted by the intense campaign that they decide not to vote.

“I think we’ve got a lot of volunteers out there,” he said. “And we’ve identified a lot of people who are very concerned about what is happening on the federal level in terms of the bailouts.”

Tedisco is running in today’s special election for the 20th Congressional District seat vacated when Kirsten Gillibrand, D-Greenport, was appointed to the U.S. Senate.

The Democratic, Independence and Working Families candidate is Scott Murphy, a venture capitalist from Glens Falls.
