Fiesta, fiesta!

It’s been a good couple of weeks for abandondend South Broadway eateries.

First, the former Pacific Rim restaurant reincarnated as Shanghai Grill. Now, I’m told, the former Chianti’s — which moved to The Lofts on Division Street last April – is poised to go Mexican.

Tim O’Rourke, of Roohan Realty, said today the owners of El Mexicano, of Hudson Falls, bought the building at 208 S. Broadway and has plans to open it as a traditional Mexican eatery after some renovations. I’ve never been to their place in Hudson Falls, but the office chatter suggests it might be worth the trip.

The sale included all the interior decor and kitchen equipment, O’Rourke said. I just called the Hudson Falls location to find out how long we’ll have to wait for a margarita, but wasn’t able to reach a manager. I’ll update with more information when I get it.

In the meantime, maybe El Mexicano’s Web site will whet your appetite.

Yes, but this one happens to be authentic Mexican, which I don’t know can be said for the other Mexican restaurants you are talking about.

It is a really good restaurant, with well prepared, fresh food and excellent service. I am so glad that they have succeeded and are opening another location. How great for Saratoga.

What’s this make about seven Mexican restaurants in Saratoga now?? Nothing like variety and originality.
