GOP weighted vote in 20th District candidate selection process

The 20th Congressional District Republican Executive Committee will use a weighted voting system to select a candidate to run in an upcoming special election for the U.S. House of Representatives seat being vacated when Kirsten Gillibrand, D-Greenport, is sworn in to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.

The weighted vote will be based of the number of votes cast on the Republican line in each county in the November 2008 congressional race, said Saratoga County Republican Chairman John “Jasper” Nolan.

The breakdown is as follows:
Columbia County — 7,633 or 7.6 percent
Delaware County — 6,587 05 6.6 percent
Dutchess County — 15,176 or 15.2 percent
Essex County — 2,438 or 2.4 percent
Greene County — 7,518 or 7.5 percent
Otsego County — 1,930 or 1.9 percent
Rensselaer County — 9,254 or 9.3 percent
Saratoga County — 32,960 or 33 percent
Warren County — 9,430 or 9.4 percent
Washington County — 7,004 or 7 percent

Percentages are rounded off to the closest 0.1 percent.

I guess that means that Jasper is saying he’s going to make the call.

I hear all of the talk about Mr. Tedisco and I find it strange that he would be considered since his home is in Schnectady. The last time I looked Schnectady was not in the District. Don’t tell me he is going to rent an apartment or use his long lost Aunts home as his place of residence and if he does why would the leadership of the District consider him when we have long term District residents that are qualified perhaps more qualified than Tedisco to represent us.
