20th District GOP chairmen to meet Tuesday
Republican chairmen from the 10 counties in the 20th Congressional District will meet Tuesday morning in Albany to discuss the upcoming special election and potential candidates, said Saratoga County Republican Chairman John “Jasper” Nolan.
Nolan said it is not clear whether the chairmen will select a candidate at that meeting to run on the party’s line.
Gov. David Paterson, at some point, will issue a proclamation calling for a special election to fill the U.S. House of Representatives seat being vacated by Kirsten Gillibrand, D-Greenport, who will be sworn in to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday.
Because it is a special election, there will be no primary.
