Food Network gets ‘Chopped’

I suppose there never can be too many cooking competitions on TV. The newest addition to the genre is “Chopped,” which debuts at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The Show, featuring former “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s” Ted Allen as host, challenges four up-and-coming chefs to turn everyday ingredients into a three-course meal. After each course, a contestant gets “chopped.”

The last chef standing will receive $10,000.

I don’t think it will have the momentum of “Top Chef,” but it sounds like episodic fun.

Actually, the host’s name is Ted Allen, not Tim. He also appears frequently on “Top Chef” as a judge. Does the show’s premise mean that there’s a winner on every episode? Kind of hard to drag a single three-course meal out through a full TV season.
