Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Hey guys,

If you were selected to the first, second or third team of The Post-Star’s 2009 Girls Volleyball All-Star team,  the plaques are now ready to be picked up. Just in case you forget, click here to see this year’s selections.

The plaques can be picked up at Big Uglies on 9 Broad St. in Glens Falls, just west of downtown. You must call ahead of time before picking up the plaque (743-1492) so that it can be completely finished.

Penn State wins again

Saturday, December 19th, 2009
Hey guys,

I know a few players went to Penn State for a volleyball camp last summer so I thought I would post this.  Congrats to the Nittany Lions!

Penn St. wins record 3rd straight volleyball title

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Penn State became the first program to win three straight volleyball titles Saturday night, overcoming a two-set deficit to beat Texas 22-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 15-13 and extend its record winning streak to 102 straight games.

Megan Hodge led the Nittany Lions (38-0) with 21 kills, including the final one that touched off a wild celebration at midcourt.

Penn State staked a claim as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, volleyball team in NCAA history. And maybe one of the best college teams ever.

The winning streak is second in Division I team sports behind the Miami men’s tennis program’s 137 straight victories from 1957-64.
